Terms & Conditions

1. What Helm is
Helm is a digital companion that helps you record sea time, training tasks and supporting evidence on your phone instead of on paper. It's a recordkeeping tool — nothing more.
2. Not affiliated with Maritime NZ
Helm is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, partnered with or approved by Maritime New Zealand (Maritime NZ) or any other regulatory body. Using Helm does not guarantee that any certificate, endorsement or ticket will be granted to you. All assessment and certification decisions sit with Maritime NZ and your training provider.
3. Accuracy of information
We do our best to keep task lists and requirements aligned with the relevant Maritime NZ training record books, but rules and templates change. You are responsible for confirming the current requirements with Maritime NZ or your training provider before submitting any record. Helm is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose.
4. Your records, your responsibility
You're responsible for everything you enter into Helm and for how you use the records, exports, photos or PDFs it produces — including any submission to Maritime NZ, an examiner, an employer or anyone else. Keep your own backups of anything important.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Helm and its makers are not liable for any loss, damage, missed opportunity, failed assessment, certification delay, lost data or other consequence arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. If you don't accept this, please don't use Helm.
6. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Helm after an update means you accept the revised terms.
